As much as I have nostalgia for Memento Mori and Icarus, I think I have to admit that they're not nearly as strong as what has come after. I also still like Swift Death, but I've found more wads I like over it.

Others that I've really enjoyed, but I'd avoid in your case, are Speed of Doom, the later levels of Scythe and Scythe II, Struggle: Antaresian Legacy, or even Alien Vendetta until you're more comfortable with harder WADs, unless you'd be willing to step down to HMP to hone your skills (which there's no shame in).
