The masterpiece used to be opened only on Holy days. The rest of the time, the wings would be closed, so that only the Annunciation would be visible. The Ghent Altarpiece is well worth a visit. The entry fee is not covered under the Museum Card. The panel paintings are truly magnificent. It is remarkable how easy it is to spot the fake / replacement panel.
