Mine is a 1999 VT1100C2 (ACE) with completely stock carb and exhaust, K&N air filter and Mobil Delvac or Rotella T in the crankcase.The 1100 Tourer is a good choice. Also the late model 1100 Spirits are geared higher than the Sabre and the Tourer models. Older 1100 VT will have a 4spd. gearbox though the first 2 yrs. were 5spd. I have a 1993 Shadow VT1100C. I average between 50 and 52 mpg. This sure beats the 16mpg I get for my Ford F150. Depending on traffic, I normally try to stay around 65mph for the bulk of the highway driving. This is a mixed commute with about 80% highway and the rest of it being more like city driving.
